Why guitar is part of the week

Guitar lessons run on campus each week with a specialist instructor. Learners begin with how to hold the instrument, tune it and change between a handful of chords, and are usually playing a recognisable song within a term.

It is a sociable instrument, and we teach it that way. Learners play together, accompany singing at school events, and pick up the practical musicianship — keeping time, listening to the person beside you, covering a mistake — that only comes from playing with others.
